In this month’s episode of 13 Steps Below – a podcast created by the students at the University of the Underground – we hear about the students work in collaboration with the Dutch National Opera and Ballet and the University of Amsterdam, dramaturgy department. As a part of their project called “Repeat after me” the students present a podcast about Opera, collective trauma and reenactment.

With behind the scenes access into the production of the Opera Clemenza di Tito directed by the renowned American theatre and opera director Peter Sellars, the students explore the question, “What can we learn from the method of reenactment, in a psychological sense, and how do we overcome a collective trauma as a society?”.

In Episode 5 we hear an interview from Sjaron Minailo, Opera Director and Tutor at the University of the Underground. All taking us on a explorative journey through the power of reenactment as an theatrical form of dealing with a collective Trauma.

Listen to the fitfth bombastic episode and you will hear about the working methods of the students to produce an opera and hear their vocals and rhythms!
