A text by John Charles Bricker

What is talking
For hours to listen,
To entertain ?
To be entertained, indulge in personal narrative,
Lie about your friends and hide your feelings.
Smile wide and wave to the audience,
Plug your book.

Your nail salon, your charitable non-profit,
Your new tea, your new tee, you’re new,
New.

It’s about wavelengths when you get down to it.
What else could it be? In your home,
You are a free vessel behind closed doors.
Never shouting lest the neighbors catch on,
Never truly, utterly
Uttering.
