Katharine is a researcher, writer and part-time visual artist whose most recent work concerns the personal and societal interaction between experiences of gender, hormones, chronic mental health conditions and invisible disability. Katharine has an MSc in Medical Anthropology & Sociology and a BA in Anthropology.

In both her research and creative practice, Katharine is interested in exploring the subversiveness of monstrosity, folk-horror, the semi-human and ‘otherness’, as a means to take ownership of identity and narrative, particularly narratives concerning health and gender. She believes that engaging with folklore and myth can challenge culturally dominant systems and invite the possibility of alternate worldviews and realities.
