Marwa was born and raised in Morocco. She holds degrees in sociology, political science and urban planning. She speaks Arabic, French, Spanish and English fluently. She has been living in the UK since 2015 and has worked on the frontline of refugee resettlement programs in Greater London, designing and delivering innovative strategies of support to families from Iraq, Syrian and Sudan. In her practice, she draws strength from the disciplines of community organising, storytelling and popular education. Marwa is particularly interested in examining the relationship between those newly arriving in a community and those who welcome them. Her work explores themes of intention, belonging, leadership and community-making. Alongside her professional commitments, Marwa tells stories in writing and to live audiences. Her writing has been featured in publications such as Skin Deep Magazine, Litro Magazine, and Forced Migration Review. She is adept at walking trips and open water swimming.
