Thirteen Steps Below is a podcast created by the students of the University of the Underground. It exists within the intersection of design and fiction; a place for them to generate and explore both the plausible and the impossible in institutions and beyond.

Each episode serves as an experience to discuss and interrogate socially relevant issues (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, and post truth) through interviews and discussions with those shaking, the very foundations of society, such as cyborg Moon Ribas, critical designer Alexander Daisy Ginsberg, science fiction author Bruce Sterling, and Pussy Riot’s Nadezhda Andreyevna Tolokonnikovat to name but a few. The podcast also acts as a creative outlet and features soundscapes, radio plays, and music; all created by the students using recordings they made in their space, in the basement of nightclub DeMarktkantine in Amsterdam.

Made by the students of the MA Design of Experiences at the University of the Underground and the Sandberg Instituut: Malena Maria Arcucci, John Charles Bricker, Tom Burke, Alexander Cromer, Francisco Dorado, Ryan Eykholt, Heather Griffin, Juhee Hahm, Andrea de Kruijf, Anna Maria Merkel, Joseph Pleass, Ada Reinthal, Luke George Hardy Rideout, Evita Eva-Maria Bianca Rigert, Jack Waghorn.
