This film was made for Tom’s band Citizens! hit single True Romance in collaboration with the directors We Are From LA.

The song evokes the faith of the youth  in the redemptive power of romance in the face of political and personal chaos and insecurity.

We began with this image of the Vancouver riots of 2011 as a reference.

The film was initially flagged as offensive by youtube who imposed an age restriction. This was later removed without explanation. We can only assume that same-sex kissing was beyond the pale back in 2013.
