A text by Andrea de Kruijf

During summer I went to this Fisherman’s cottage ‘t Dikje’ at the beach in The Hague.
‘t Dikje, (which means ‘the small dike’) is there for more than 20 years.
There are men gathering here every day.
Some of them are retired fishermen, some of them are out of work.
But all of them are born and raised in Duindorp, this neighbourhood next to the sea.
There are between 30 to 40 men in total, some of them come here everyday, some of
them come less often, maybe every other day. Some of them have a wife, who might join
on a nice summer day, but most of the time only men are seen in this cottage.
They are not friends, but they all belong to the same group.
I joined them and was allowed to make some pictures.
