You might’ve heard, our tuition-free university, the University of the Underground has been running a summer school in new york for the month of August, and as POST NATION-STATES draws to a close, the students of the University of the Underground will present the fruits of their labour on Friday 30th Aug 17:00 to 19:00 at the School for Poetic Computation in New York, with drinks and celebrations after! The student’s presentations will showcase their visions for the development of a new political format as a reflection on politics, nation-states, international diplomacy and political institutions (ie: United Nations) as we know it.

Over the course of the month, the students have been on a whirlwind around New York, meeting the most inspiring academics, musicians, creative coders, basketball players, anthropologist and SO MANY MORE. They have travelled from far and wide and traversed around New York into Washington DC and the Pentagon.

– Zach Lieberman, new media artist, designer, computer programmer, and educator, co- creator of the School for Poetic Computation
– Douglas Trumbull, American film director, special effects supervisor, and inventor. Douglas created the SFX for ‘2001, A Space Oddessy’ among many other pioneering films.
– Len Elmore, sportscaster, lawyer and former National Basketball Association (NBA) player. Elmore has served as a college basketball analyst for ESPN and Fox Sports and has served in the same capacity for CBS Sports’ coverage of the NCAA Tournament and NBA 
– Matt Selman, executive producer of the Simpsons
– Stephen C. Schlesinger, American author, political commentator, and international affairs specialist, a Fellow at the Century Foundation in New York City. He served as Director of the World Policy Institute at the New School University from 1997 to 2006.
– Dr. Annie Seaton, director of difference and Media Project at Bard College, an intersectional thinktank on difference, aesthetics, and politics. 
– Paola Antonelli, Board member of the University of the Underground, Senior Curator at The Museum of Modern Art in the Department of Architecture & Design, as well as MoMA’s founding Director of Research & Development.
– Michael Beirut, Pentagram Partner, creative director and graphic designer for the Hillary Clinton campaign, a founder of the website Design Observer, and a teacher at the Yale School of Art 
– Caleb Giles, saxophonist for experimental jazz and hip-hop collective Standing On The Corner, producer, producer and rapper, XL recordings. 
– Dr. Nandini Thiyagarajan Faculty Fellow in the Animal Studies Initiative at New York University

– Billy Dean Thomas, AKA “The Queer B.I.G” is a Hip-hop recording artist and composer, rapper and lyricist.
