Lilian Stolk is emoji expert in the Netherlands. She is researching how our messages are flooding with images, like emoji. Since this topic is a crossover in itself, it gives her the opportunity to use both her theoretical background as an historian and her artistic practice. She writes articles, wrote the non-fiction book Het zonderwoorden-boek (on emoji), initiated a series of events on visual culture (The Hmm), organizing workshops and creating animated gif stickers & illustrations. She will talk about iconic nature of emoji and it’s consequences and after she will have workshop with students about the topic.
