Hala Barakat is a year old botanist, eco-conservationist, and former university professor. She quit her full-time job
shortly after the January 25 revolution began and gave free reign to her other interests: Food Sovereignty, food
heritage research and writing. She is also a vegetarian cook and caterer, a designer with her own line of clothing made from up-cycled, unusual, local and found-through-travels materials, and a yoga teacher. Hala has been teaching yoga for 10 years and in 2015, she opened her own studio in Garden City, Cairo. Hala has a PhD in Paleoecology from the University of Aix-Marseille III, France.
