As of 1st November 2017 the beer-bike is banned from operating in the city of its birth, Amsterdam (specifically the city centre). After a legal dispute spanning several years, the court sided with the local government and the bikes can no longer enter the canal ring. For the past 20 years the beer bike has made an impact on the lives so many in the Dutch capital, bringing people together to share a unique experience and uniting those who despise it. For many the bike was obnoxious and a source of irritation. However for those who chose to come along for the ride, laughs were shared, sights were seen, and most crucially beer was consumed in motion.
